Inshallah, the 130+ voice choir based at Martin Luther University College, is part of the work of Luther's Kanata Centre for Worship and Global Song. This new songbook, Sing the Journey Deep, offers 50 more songs that have accompanied Inshallah since 2016 through life’s circumstances, including welcoming refugees, growing in relationship to the land and Indigenous peoples, responding to social injustices and Covid-19 isolation, and lamenting the horrors of war.

Sing the Journey Deep is a companion for the complicated times in which we live. These songs provide ways to open to the sacred, to express the realities of joy and suffering, to pray and to live toward peace and justice through singing together. The songbook includes contextual and performance notes, making it accessible to singers of many levels.

The songs work well for individuals and even better when sung in community or congregational settings.
